Already have a business number that your customers recognize and trust? You can bring it with you to SimpleVox through a process called number porting.
We’ll work with your current carrier behind the scenes to transfer the number to our platform — no need to notify them yourself.
What is Number Porting?
Porting is the process of moving your existing phone number from one service provider to another. You keep the same number, but the infrastructure behind it (routing, voicemail, call flow) moves to SimpleVox.
We support porting for:
Local U.S. numbers
Toll-free U.S. numbers (e.g. 800, 888, etc.)
Some VoIP or cloud-based numbers (depending on provider)
What to Know Before You Start
Here are a few important things to know before you begin your port request:
Your number must still be active
Canceling service before porting will cause the request to be rejected. Wait until your number is fully ported before making any changes.
You'll need documentation
We’ll ask for a recent phone bill (PDF or image) that shows:
The number you want to port
The account holder's name
The account number
Your billing address
If your current provider uses a PIN or authorization code (common with mobile or VoIP services), have that ready too.
Porting takes 3–7 business days
We’ll submit your request as soon as we receive all necessary info. Most ports complete in about a week, though some providers (especially VoIP and cable companies) may take longer.
You can use your current provider until the port is done
We’ll only take over the number after the transfer is complete. You won’t lose access in the meantime.
