If you plan to send text messages to U.S. phone numbers through SimpleVox, there’s one important step you’ll need to take first: A2P 10DLC registration.
This is a mandatory requirement set by the major U.S. cell carriers — AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, and others — to reduce spam and protect consumers from unwanted messages. It applies to all cloud phone providers, including SimpleVox.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through:
What A2P registration is
Who it applies to
The different registration paths (Business vs. Sole Proprietor)
Associated fees
What to expect during the process
What is A2P 10DLC?
A2P stands for Application-to-Person, and 10DLC refers to the use of regular 10-digit long code numbers (like the ones you get from SimpleVox) for business messaging.
To use your SimpleVox number to text customers, you must first register with The Campaign Registry (TCR) — the third-party organization designated by U.S. carriers to handle A2P compliance.
Without this registration:
Your outbound texts to U.S. numbers will fail to deliver
Carriers may block your number from sending messages entirely
Who Needs to Register?
Anyone using SimpleVox to send texts to U.S. phone numbers.
That includes:
Businesses with an EIN or tax ID
Sole proprietors without an EIN
Nonprofits or freelancers
Even if you previously registered with another provider, you'll need to re-register when porting your number into SimpleVox.
Two Ways to Register
There are two approved registration paths. Which one you use depends on whether you have an EIN (Employer Identification Number).
1. Businesses with an EIN
If you have a registered business with a U.S. tax ID:
You’ll register as an Organization
You can send messages from any number in your SimpleVox account
You’ll be approved for Low Volume Standard messaging
Daily Message Limits
Up to 6,000 message segments per day
Up to 2,000 to T-Mobile numbers
Subject to Fair Use Policy
Fees (Paid to TCR and carriers)
One-time registration review fee: $19
Monthly messaging fee: $1.50/month
Rejection resubmission fee: $15 (if needed)
These fees go directly to The Campaign Registry and carrier partners. SimpleVox does not mark up or profit from them.
2. Sole Proprietors (No EIN)
If you’re a solo entrepreneur or freelancer without an EIN, you can still register.
To qualify, you must have:
A U.S. or Canadian address
A personal mobile number with a +1 country code
You’ll only be able to use one SimpleVox number for texting with this type of registration.
Daily Message Limits
Up to 3,000 message segments per day
Up to 1,000 to T-Mobile numbers
Fees (Paid to TCR and carriers)
One-time registration review fee: $19
Monthly messaging fee: $2.00/month
Rejection resubmission fee: $15 (if needed)
Want to text from multiple numbers? You’ll need to register as a business using an EIN.
